looking to buy scuba equipment. need a octopus/reg, bcd and computer.?

Hi, I’m looking for Scuba Gear and hoping on some suggestions for reasonably priced recreational scuba gear. Been diving about 15 years, was thinking of trying a harness? dive computer that is good for free diving a definate bonus.Doing 2-4 trips a year. Money not a huge issue, but no need to go crazy, just looking for something relaible that will last.

thanks.

Gear made by any of the major manufacturers is good. Your cost will boil down to bells and whistles. Harness’ are great if your’re thinking of going tech or want some flexibility in a rig. I get more milage out of my TransPac and OMS than my Mares because of that.
Computer? Any of the wrist mounts will do for free diving as well as an air dive. They all show depth and dive time, but check first. Some will only show and record a total time for submersion over 1 minute or a depth of more than 15 feet. They’ll all show the immediate time and depth but may not put it into memory because the computer doesn’t consider it a dive at all and not worth storing to memory. You’ll have to eyeball the display before the computer’s contacts break surface and dumps the information accumulated in this case.

Do you need to be certified in scuba diving in order to go diving?
