<p>In SCUBA, you will begin with class room study, followed by work in a pool for your basics.  next comes your first dives in protected inland waters (In Florida, please do not molest the alligators.)  Then open water diving, usually from a dive boat.</p>
<p>This gets you certified to dive in &quot;open water&quot;.  Now, if you want to do shore diving, there are a lot of places on the east coast of Florida to SCUBA from shore.  On the West coast of Florida, there are places you could walk out to the 3 mile limit before you would be deep enough to dive.</p>
