A good place to buy scuba gear?

Posted on Jul 08, 2009 under Scuba Gear | 3 Comments

I am looking to buy a full set of scuba gear, can any tell me which web site should be the best place to buy them?
I just spoke to a freind and he told me about primescuba.com,
has any one heard about them?

YES I got a full Scuba Gear and a lot of other stuff from www.primescuba.com they have great prices and their customer service is top of the line.

What kind of scuba gear would be good for a beginner?

You’re best off to buy at a local dive shop. Not only will you get better service for your gear but you also get to try it on before purchase. That’s kinda important since if it doesn’t fit..it could get you hurt or worse. Your gear is not something you want to skimp on the price either. Some of these online shops sell factory seconds, which are cheaper, but they’re still factory seconds. There may be something wrong with it to be offered at a discount. Does it make sense to cut corners on gear that’s supposed to help keep you alive? Suppose you order it and it doesn’t fit. Any price saving you just got is blown away with shipping costs.
Additionally, if you’re a regular customer of a dive shop, you’ll usually enjoy a discount to boot. I buy from my LDS and still pay less than anything you’ll find online. I usually get other freebies tossed in too, like tank viz’s, reduction on charters and the like.
One other little thing. You need a buddy to go diving with. Even a group of buddies is nice. Wander into a dive shop that you bought your gear from and I’ll wager you’re diving in an hour someplace. Hard to do that with an online store.
