What kind of scuba gear would be good for a beginner?
If this something you know you want to do, buy, some good stuff up front. I not know all the names off hand, had the stuff so long. I bought a nice Aluminum Tank, Good BC Vest and rubber coated weights. The main thing was my Regulator. Many were buying these mini things and I read up and studied this. I got a full size Regulator it was expensive but it do well at all depths and temperatures. All my gear is about 15 years old now and never been worked on. I keep the rubber sprayed with silicon and keep it clean.
So, spend your money and a little extra to buy some good quality gear and it will last you a lifetime. Buy the cheap now and later you be selling it for less than you paid to buy something better. Do your research on this, so you get what you really want!!!!!!

I think the Regulator is your most important piece of equipment, but, it not mean you have to spend $500 either. I hope this link will help you;

All you need to start is mask fin snorkel and booties and maybe a wetsuit. These you should but qaulity pair. The rest you should wait to see and make sure you will dive often. It might be cheaper to rent when you dive.
