Scuba Diving Question about Wet Suites?

Posted on Aug 31, 2009 under Scuba Wetsuits | 4 Comments

Im a pretty Hufty guy 6′3 260lbs and my friend is 5′10 315lbs we were thinking of taking suba diving lessons together but were wondering if they would even have wetsuits that would fit us? (wet suites and needed to take the course) Anyone think I’ll have a problem with this? Also what a great company to choose from? or a company that would fit me :)

First you need to decide where you want to learn to dive, then do a search for places that will teach you, Email/call them and explain to them your sizes and they will/should be able to sort you out. PADI is about the most common for courses, and have locations all over the world. If you decide to take it up then it may be worth getting your suits made for you, they will be a more expensive, but you wont have any problems with dive places not having your size.

Have fun

In terms of suits to use for your class, I would call the person/dive shop that you plan to take the course with. Be honest about your height and weight, and they will be able to inform you if they have suits to fit you. The shop that I work for does have suits that would fit, but not every location is stocked as well.

In terms of buying a suit, it would be easier to go to a dive shop and try some on. A shop that carries Henderson Hyperstretch could be a great place to start.
